Altar Servers
General Statement Altar Server play an important role in our parish services. Altar servers are responsible for assisting the celebrant throughout the service. Two to three servers are needed for each mass during weekends.
Qualifications Both young men and women who have attained the age of ten are eligible to participate in the Altar Server Ministry. Schedules are posted in the upper pastor’s office weekly, and all servers are asked to review the schedule regularly. All necessary training is provided on a regular basis. Children's Liturgy of the Word During the 9:00 am Sunday Masses, September through May, children are invited to participate in the Children's Liturgy of the Word. The Children's Liturgy of the Word is a special liturgy of the word designed to accommodate them at their age and maturity level. Children’s Liturgy of the Word follows the same format as the Liturgy of the Word in the Mass. No registration is required; no attendance is taken. The children come forward with their catechist when called by the presiding priest. After the children are dismissed, they gather with the presider/catechist in room #213 of the Parish Life Center. They return to the main worship space for the Offertory Procession. All children are welcome to participate in Children’s Liturgy of the Word.
